Steps to Auto-Translate Subtitles
- Open a Subtitle File
- Drag and drop your subtitle file into Subtitle Edit, or navigate to "File > Open" and select your file.
- Auto-Translate
- Go to "Auto-translate > Auto-translate", or simply use the shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+G". This will open a new window for subtitle auto-translation.
- Ensure the translator is set to "Google Translate V1 API" if you haven't purchased an API code. If you have an API code, choose one of the available APIs.
- Set the "From" and "To" languages, then click the Translate button.
- Once the translation process is complete, click "OK" to return to the main interface.
- Save the Translated Subtitle
- Save the new translated subtitle file by navigating to "File> Save As".
Steps to Merge Subtitles
- Join Subtitles
- Navigate to "Tools > Join subtitles", which will open a new window for importing the subtitles in different languages.
- Click the Add button and choose the subtitle files you want to merge.
- Click the Join button to return to the main interface.
- Arrange and Merge Subtitles
- Select all the subtitle text by using the shortcut "Ctrl+A".
- Navigate to "Tools > Sort by" and choose "Start time". This will arrange the subtitles by start time.
- Then, go to "Tools > Merge lines with same time codes". A new window will appear showing the number of merges (the number of text lines with the same time codes). Press "OK".
- Save the Merged Subtitles
- Save the new merged subtitle file by navigating to "File> Save As".
